Warriorcandy member. August 2012. I had a membrane sweep yesterday. i was 1cm dilated, 70% effaced with baby in -2 position. I started having some cramping and braxton hicks right away and they lasted all day and night. no real dischagre though or spotting till this morning. I have had light mild spots of brown mucusy discharge when i wipe.So really, sweeps don't always work. She sweeped another lady who wasn't dilated at all and had no signs of labour, she went into labour the next day!! It's all very much down to the individual. I lost a chunk of mine last week, and it looked like big pieces of snot. Like hack-up-a-loogie snot. The pink streak sounds like maaaaaybe bloody show, but if you're already 3 cm dialated, your mucus plug should be long gone. And sadly you could walk around 3cm dialated for another couple of weeks.

So I had an attempt at a membrane sweep with my first. I was being induced at 39 weeks and wanted to do everything I could. Cervix was too long and high for her to actually do it but even the attempt loosened things up and I lost my mucus plug after, and had a super easy induction (didn't even need pitocin, went into labor from cervadil).
