Dec 20, 2012, 07:34 pm. As the topic title says, I'm working on building a Staff Magus. I'm using a GM-approved variant of Tiefling that has a +2 STR/INT, -2 CHA. We're playing 20-point buy. If there's any way to make it work, I'd like to fit in Craft Magic Arms and Armor and any other crafting feats that might be useful as they fit in with the ...Working on a Magus character build. Plan is to be a starlit span magus, using bows to hopefully reduce the need for move actions and make the tight Magus action economy more efficient. Human-Aasimar ancestry to eventually get access to at will flight (flight+range and magic is obviously strong), and other flexible ancestry feats as needed.That is the biggest hurdle for this build imo. You won't be a full gunslinger, so won't have your way reload until later levels to help even out your action economy. And Magus in general is already pretty action starved. I won't go into specific skill, ancestry, or general feats but here is a straightforward magus build for what you want. Start with 18 dex,16 int, and ignore strength on your Starlit Span Magus. Magus really is a class that needs some deciation, since its features are spread out. Cantrips are endless, but don't level up (except you can add sneak attack, don't know whether sneak attack is added both to weapon attack and spell). Spell combat is pretty useless without a decent amount of spells to burn.

-Magus is nearly unplayable in melee. Action economy and AoO from enemies make it just worth than a range magus. You have not many hit points and medium armor. -To keep up with a normal martial, you want (or must) use spell strike every round. -Greater invisibility is so good that you want it basically for every fight.
